Designed by: Ken Okuyama
Manufactured by: Positive Posture
Introduced at: Las Vegas Consumer Electronics Show- Las Vegas, NV in January 2016
Materials: The Vaya's most visually stunning features are the signature “X” frame and the starbase, both made from a single piece of die-cast aluminum, creating a chair that is free of welds and thus exponentially stronger.
The 3D mesh on the seat was designed specifically for this chair as were the majority of the chair's components. Vaya is nearly 100% custom made - the only elements of this chair that are “off the shelf” are the casters. The chair is handcrafted by 1 of 4 trained Japanese engineers making only a handful a day.
About: Vaya came from the mind of renowned designer Ken Okuyama, best known for his sports car creations including the Enzo Ferrari and Maserati Birdcage 75. The signature “X” frame draws an immediate connection to the Vaya's sports car influence. The Vaya's clean, simple, masculine design, disguises the fact that Vaya is the only fully adjustable, ergonomic office chair with all adjustments built into the chair, eliminating the ugly knobs and levers seen on a typical ergonomic office chair.
Meticulously crafted in the Japanese engineering tradition, Vaya’s every detail has been carefully considered to provide a smooth and complete range of motion and to offer proper ergonomic support at all times while leaving your office with not only a chair, but a piece of art.
Features: Vaya is designed to move with you throughout your day to encourage a healthy work posture. Nearly all elements of Vaya adjust so that users can sit comfortably, stay energized, and be creative and productive all day long.
Everything about the chair is adjustable including the seat depth and height, armrest height, depth, and angle, headrest height and depth, lumbar height and depth, tilt rock tension, and backrest tilt limiter.
Vaya also features a proprietary 3D mesh on the seat and backrest. The 3D mesh provides the extra support and comfort that a standard mesh cannot, yet still allows for breathability that is lost when using a solid fabric or leather.
