Suburban Contemporary Home Furnishings opened in 1959 in Oklahoma City in a very traditional state. From the very beginning Jack and Pat loved and wanted to bring modern, contemporary furniture to Oklahoma City. It quickly evolved from very simple modern looks, basically without wagon wheels, to 1960’s very hip, classic modern. The styles included chairs with Plexiglas backs, chrome and glass top tables, sofas that were long, sleek contemporary styles with walnut bases, velvet fabrics, slate and marble accents. Modular pieces forming giant play pen sectionals. There were bedroom groups with round beds in new wood finishes like oiled walnut, light maple, hackberry and other new exotic woods and veneers and the classic contemporary styles from Charles Eames, Barcelona, Bauhaus, Marcel Breuer and Mies Van Der Rohe.
Suburban now offers exciting contemporary furniture from all over the world. Offering great values from manufactures in China, Vietnam and the Philippines. Our family has lived in Oklahoma for generations. We love Oklahoma and we love the people of Oklahoma. We have seen Oklahoma City grow from a small town to a city of 1.3 million people in our metropolitan area. As the city had grown, so has it diversity. We are now an NBA city with a thriving downtown and sprawling suburbs whose contemporary appetite has steadily grown.

Suburban Contemporary Furniture and Accessories offers 6 months no interest everyday through Wells Fargo Finance with approved credit. For special event sales we will sometimes offer 12 months no interest with approved credit.

Suburban Contemporary Furniture and Accessories services its customers in homes all through out the U.S. from Hawaii to Bonita Springs, Florida. We have also sent contemporary furniture around the world as far as Qatar and Nigeria. Suburban is here to service our contemporary customers no matter where they have homes.
Inventory
Suburban Contemporary Furniture and Accessories maintains a 30,000 square foot warehouse of inventory. We have the largest inventory of contemporary and modern leather, upholstery, bedrooms, dining rooms, occasional pieces, accessories and rugs in Oklahoma.
Special Orders
Suburban Contemporary Furniture and Accessories offers the ability to special order from all of our vendors. Suburban requires a 50% non refundable deposit to initiate all special orders. We can only estimate lead times from our vendors and due to unforeseen circumstances such as shipping restrictions, and availability of materials; we are unable to guarantee delivery times on special orders. Once a special order arrives in the store we require the balance to be paid in full in order to set a time for delivery or pick up. Suburban will not hold unpaid special order merchandise over 30 days. If the merchandise remains unpaid after the 30 day grace period, it will be considered abandoned. All money paid on the order will be forfeited, and the merchandise will be liquidated.
Warranty & Protection
All items sold only carry any manufacturer’s warranty that might apply. Warranties vary from manufacturer to manufacturer. Please ask for specifics about the products you purchase. The customer is responsible for all cost to return items requiring warranty repair work or replacement. As an additional protection Suburban Contemporary Furniture offers extended warranty products from Valspar/Guardsman for an additional cost. The extended warranty offered is for fabric protection, Leather protection, Wood Care and Rug Care. Suburban also will give you a gift certificate to be used at Suburban for half of the amount of your extended warranty purchase. All warranty gift certificates will be given to the customer upon delivery or pick up of the merchandise covered by the extended warranty. Gift certificates must be used on new purchases and cannot be redeemed for cash or used for previously purchased merchandise. Pink tag, closeout and previously discounted merchandise are excluded. Suburban warranty gift certificates are valid for ONE year from date of purchase and are NON TRANSFERABLE. Customer must have the gift certificate in the store to redeem. The customer is responsible for maintaining receipts and other documents required to verify purchase and for any warranty claims.

Curtis and Irene Burt started Hilltop Furniture in 1949 located on Southwest 29th Street in Oklahoma City. Their son Jack worked in the store while in high school and college. Jack married Pat Rice in 1954, and continued to work in his father’s store until 1959. At that time, he and Pat started Suburban Contemporary Furniture on southwest 57th and Pennsylvania in Oklahoma City. They sought to bring modern and contemporary furniture fashion, design and style at affordable prices to Oklahoma.
Over the next twenty years, Jack and Pat opened locations in both south and north Oklahoma City. In 1976, their oldest son, Jeff married Sherry Loving and went to work in the family business. Jack and Pat retired in 1987. They closed all but one north location at 3118 n. May Avenue, where Jeff and Sherry took over managing the family business.
In 1995, the Burt family fulfilled a life long dream, and built our current location at 201 N. Portland. The 63,000 square foot store is a dream come true for Jack and Pat, who were pioneers of the original business. It is a beautiful building that won an international award for tilt-up concrete design.
Jeff and Sherry’s oldest son, Brandon started working in the business in 2004. He currently sells and manages the company website. Their youngest son, Jeremy, joined the business in late 2005. His current duties are selling and merchandising. Both brothers joined the family business on their own accord with the desire to help grow the business for the future.
We are a fourth generation furniture family, and so proud to be a part of our local community. We welcome all who wish to experience a difference in furniture fashion shopping. Suburban Contemporary Furniture is an upstanding and trustworthy member of the Oklahoma business community. Suburban supports the Oklahoma City Orchestra league and the Symphony Designer Show House. We have supported the Make a Wish Foundation through the Gallery of Homes Showcase. We also support the Oklahoma Memorial Marathon, local churches, and individual efforts to help in multiple local charities. Suburban is a member of the Sustainable Furnishings Council (see
